One of the reasons I secretly love buying my groceries online for delivery – random substitutions. I’ve had all manner of oddball products arrive on my doorstep I’d never normally try. That’s exactly what happened here when these fries from the huge burger chain Red Robin ended up as a sub on a recent order.
I’ve been slowly working my way through the frozen fry section of the store for a while now, so I wasn’t particularly upset about this sub.
Ultimately there’s not much to write home about here. I wasn’t particularly enthralled or disappointed either way. I thought the seasoning might be the key here, but that was a fairly unremarkable – a rough mix of paprika, garlic and online powder. I confess to have never having eaten at a Red Robin myself, so I don’t have the restaurant version to compare to. There might be something here for huge fans of the brand; for me personally at their $2.48 price point (Walmart) they’re not worth the extra expense when compared to the far superior Great Value brand steak cut fries.
