Are Echo Lake Foods Scrambled Egg Patties any good?

Yes! These frozen scrambled eggs are an extremely convenient way to always have a relatively healthy breakfast option on hand. They
ready in as little as 60 seconds with no cleanup either.

Frozen scrambled eggs. I can’t say they’re something I’d ever find myself reaching for ordinarily. The sheer notion just seems so fraught with potential for things to go poorly. Through the course of writing Shop Smart though, I’ve found myself increasingly looking at items I’d never normally give a second glace. Surely there might be some hidden gems out there…

With that in mind, I’m happy to report this product was a surprisingly happy find. None of my initial fears of weirdly adulterated eggs came to pass. The final product isn’t mushy, it’s not watery, and it’s surprisingly close to the real deal. To be clear, this product isn’t just egg and egg alone though.

Right out of the bag the thing discs of egg certainly have an eery, semi-fluorescent yellow tone and the ingredients do list a few extra additions; nothing too egregious mind you as far as I can tell. Coming out of the microwave they have an ever so slightly artificial butter aroma, which I found to dissipate quite quickly. Indeed the product tastes remarkably like…well…scrambled eggs! And that’s of course a good thing.

Where this product shines most is ease and simplicity. I don’t know about you, but on most weekday mornings before work, I’ve barely got the energy to get coffee brewing; even something as simple as cracking a couple eggs and manning the stove for a few minutes seems impossibly hard. This product makes a quick healthy breakfast snack a task of no more than 90 seconds. (see below)

The fact you can stow a pack of these in the freezer for a rainy day and always be sure to have a quick and healthy breakfast solution to hand is great. I only used these on English muffins for a grab and go breakfast (see below), but they’d be just as useful in everything from breakfast burritos through bigger breakfast plates.

Echo Lake Foods Scrambled Egg Patties – what’s the in bag

Nine scrambled egg patties come in the main plastic package, they are not individually wrapped; the bag has a very solid resealable top though.

First of all, lets all just appreciate the fact that this product has been clearly created with an English muffin in mind. It might sound simple, but contrast that to a Morningstar Farms sausage patty:

Here’s a few more pictures of the final product. As you can see the patty is solid, with not a hint of wateriness. This really impressed me to be quite frank.

Echo Lake Foods Scrambled Egg Patties – nutrition, ingredients, cooking instructions

60-75 seconds in a microwave and you’ll be eating breakfast, it’s really that simple. No cleanup of eggs shells or the like either, this is really a very convenience product. Nutritionally they’re very solid. If you compare the stats below to the nutrition of one regular egg, you’ll see that each patty is about three quarters of a regular egg. There’s a little extra salt in these, but nothing extreme.

Echo Lake Foods Scrambled Egg Patties- what’s a fair price

I snagged these from my local Walmart for $2.88. That makes each patty just a little more than 30 cents a pop; I think that’s more than reasonable given the ease and utility of this product.
