What’s new in grocery world June 2021

As ever you can see the full list of what’s hitting grocery store shelves here – but for an overview of the most interesting, read on.

Butcher box have now teamed up with grocery delivery service Instacart to deliver their curated meat boxes to customers. The new ButcherBox storefront on Instacart enables customers to shop from 10 unique box configurations to meet their protein needs, which start at $99. Meanwhile, Niman Ranch are staring to use The Cryovac Darfresh Tray packaging which allows a “hermetic seal to completely surrounding meats – with their pork specifically this extends shelf life up to 35 days!

The meat-free space continues to grow quick. Incogmeato from MorningStar Farms announced a huge roll-out expansion. For us, their plant0based nuggets are the very vest we’ve tried yet, check out the review here (nuggets pictured above). Tyson’s new plant-based lineup, Raised & Rooted, also continues to expand with many more items too; Plant Based Nuggets, Spicy Plant Based Nuggets, and Whole-Grain Plant Based Tenders recently launched and a Plant Based Burger, Plant Based Bratwurst, Plant Based Italian Sausage and Plant Based Ground products are expected soon too. Curiously this product line is not vegan friendly, featuring egg as an ingredient.

If you want to stick to old school products when eating healthy – broccoli is America’s number one choice according to a Birds Eye report; carrots and corn being the other also rans. Lastly – here’s another space to watch – cannabis based foods. With laws surrounding cannabis loosening across the country High Life Farms has introduced two new flavors to its line up of cannabis based snacks.
